TMS Families,
I hope you had a safe and fun-filled extended weekend. We have a parent advisory council meeting scheduled for tomorrow evening, Feb. 21, at 6pm in the TMS Library. Please consider attending if you are interested in hearing about Triad Middle School and providing valuable parental input to be considered for our 2024-2025 TMS Student Handbook. Another way to provide valuable feedback is to take the IL 5 Essentials Survey as a TMS parent. Please see the survey section of this week’s TMS Update below. Thank you for your participation!
Fine Arts Spiritwear: Beginning on March 1st, we are thrilled to introduce Fine Arts Fridays, an initiative by the TMS & THS Fine Arts Department aimed at spotlighting and celebrating the diverse spectrum of fine arts within our schools. Included in these ideas are themed Fridays, fine arts spiritwear, and short videos highlighting each program in the fine arts (band, choir, theater, and visual arts). Spring Scholastic Book Fair: Our annual TMS Spring Scholastic Book Fair will be taking place the week of March 11th. With the book fair quickly approaching, we could use some parent volunteers to make the event as smooth and successful as possible. We're using SignUp to organize our upcoming Book Fair Volunteers. Here's how it works in 3 easy steps:

2) Review the options listed and choose the spot(s) you would like.
3) Sign up! It's Easy - you will NOT need to register an account or keep a password on SignUp.

5 Essentials Survey: The Illinois 5 Essentials Survey window opened three weeks ago and runs through March 29th. Students, staff, and parents will have the opportunity to take the survey to share their experiences with Triad Middle School. Parents should use this link to access the survey. We need at least 20% of TMS parents to take the survey, so please take it soon to help us out! We are so close, as we are currently at 19% after three weeks. Please consider helping us out by taking the survey if you haven’t already. The surveys are specific to each building, so if you already took one for an elementary school or the high school we would need you to take it again for TMS specifically.
TMS Golf Club - Mr. Beck is supervising a free golf club this April for students who want to practice hitting golf balls. Interested students should have a parent fill out this golf club form this week. Please return it to Mr. Beck by Friday!
2023-2024 Yearbook Reminder: Time is running out to purchase the 2024 yearbook. If you are interested, please purchase at Yearbook Order. We cannot guarantee you a yearbook unless you pre-order. 2025 DC/NYC Trip - Please use this link to register for the 2025 Washington DC trip. Sign up by February 26 to save $70. Please email Mrs. Cochran with any questions.

SOAR Information: Sixth grade only after school recreation (SOAR) will be up and running for a Spring session beginning April 2. All sixth grade families are encouraged to read the SOAR parent letter and get registered for the Spring session using this registration form if they are interested.
8th Grade PSAT 8/9: TMS will be administering the PSAT 8/9 test to interested 8th graders on Wednesday, April 24th. The test is optional and tuition-based ($15). Students must turn in permission slips and payment to the TMS office by this Friday, February 23rd. Please see the PSAT 8/9 parent letter for more information and the permission slip. Daily Announcements: Would you like to have access to the daily announcements that TMS students hear each morning at school? If so, please go to the “Daily News” section on our TMS Website.
Student Reminders: Please reinforce the following TMS expectations with your students.
Daily on-time arrival to school and class are very important.
Please wear your ID each day, IDs should be on at all times.
AirPods/earbuds are only allowed in class with teacher permission.
No cell phones outside of lockers. Keep phones off and in your locker during the school day.
Check your email, Canvas, and Skyward often.

At the January Board of Education meeting, the 2024-2025 Triad District School Calendar was approved by the board. Please check out next year’s school calendar when planning short trips, appointments, and vacations to help us improve attendance at TMS and maximize in person learning opportunities for students and staff.
