TMS Families,
This past Saturday, Feb. 24, the Illinois Grade School Music Association (IGSMA) held their District Solo/Ensemble contest in Highland. TMS Choir had 14 entries, and came away with 10 First Superior rankings and 4 Firsts. 23 students participated all together. TMS Band had 62 entries, and came away with 10 students earning a Superior for their solos, 34 students receiving an Excellent (First), and 2 receiving a Good (Second). There were three ensembles that received a Superior (including our 7th/8th grade percussion ensemble). Three ensembles received an Excellent (First) (including our Pezz Band). One ensemble received a Good (Second). 83 students participated all together. We’re very proud of these students. Contests like these can make students super nervous, but they did great!
Congratulations are also in order for our 7th grade girls volleyball team on their regional semifinal win last night over Highland. The win secured them a spot in the 2024 IESA Regional Championship Game, which will be played right here at Triad Middle School on Thursday, February 29th at 5:00pm. The cost to attend this IESA Regional Championship Game is $5 for high school students and adults and $3 for K-8 students and senior citizens. Students must pay the $3 to enter Thursday night, as no student ID passes are allowed for IESA postseason contests. Good luck to our TMS 7th grade volleyball team!
Fine Arts Fridays: Fine Arts Fridays, an initiative by the TMS & THS Fine Arts Department, is aimed at spotlighting and celebrating the diverse spectrum of fine arts within our schools. Included in these ideas are themed Fridays, fine arts spiritwear, and short videos highlighting each program in the fine arts (band, choir, theater, and visual arts). Students are encouraged to participate this Friday, 3/1, by wearing their favorite artist, band, music or theater shirt.
Spring Scholastic Book Fair: Our annual TMS Spring Scholastic Book Fair will be taking place the week of March 11th. With the book fair quickly approaching, we could use some parent volunteers to make the event as smooth and successful as possible. We're using SignUp to organize our upcoming Book Fair Volunteers. Here's how it works in 3 easy steps:

5 Essentials Survey: The Illinois 5 Essentials Survey window opened four weeks ago and runs through March 29th. Students, staff, and parents will have the opportunity to take the survey to share their experiences with Triad Middle School. Parents should use this link to access the survey. Please consider helping us out by taking the survey if you haven’t already. The surveys are specific to each building, so if you already took one for an elementary school or the high school we would need you to take it again for TMS specifically.
American Heart Association Donations: The American Heart Association fundraiser for Heart Challenge and for the TMS PE Department will take place March 5-7. Students will have their choice of participating in Dodgeball for Heart, Volleyball for Heart, or Walking for Heart in their normal PE classes. All donations are due by Thursday, 2/29!
TMS Golf Club: Mr. Beck is supervising a free golf club this April for students who want to practice hitting golf balls. Interested students should have a parent fill out this golf club form this week. Please return it to Mr. Beck ASAP!
2023-2024 Yearbook Reminder: Time is running out to purchase the 2024 yearbook. If you are interested, please purchase at Yearbook Order. We cannot guarantee you a yearbook unless you pre-order. 2025 France Trip - Please use this link to register for the 2025 trip to Paris and the French Riviera. Sign up by February 29 to save $200! Please email Mrs. Cochran with any questions.
SOAR Information: Sixth grade only after school recreation (SOAR) will be up and running for a Spring session beginning April 2. All sixth grade families are encouraged to read the SOAR parent letter and get registered for the Spring session using this registration form if they are interested.

Daily Announcements: Would you like to have access to the daily announcements that TMS students hear each morning at school? If so, please go to the “Daily News” section on our TMS Website.
Student Reminders: Please reinforce the following TMS expectations with your students.
Daily on-time arrival to school and class are very important.
Please wear your ID each day, IDs should be on at all times.
AirPods/earbuds are only allowed in class with teacher permission.
No cell phones outside of lockers. Keep phones off and in your locker during the school day.
Check your email, Canvas, and Skyward often.

At the January Board of Education meeting, the 2024-2025 Triad District School Calendar was approved by the board. Please check out next year’s school calendar when planning short trips, appointments, and vacations to help us improve attendance at TMS and maximize in person learning opportunities for students and staff.
