TMS Families,

We are officially at the midway point of the first grading period! Teachers and office staff have noticed that some students are behind on their assignments resulting in failing grades. Parents are encouraged to utilize Skyward for attendance, discipline, and academic grade entries as often as they’d like, but especially today as we have reached the first midterm. You may also wish to set up notification alerts for disciplinary entries, missing work, and low scores on assignments, quizzes, and tests. Please reach out to one of our teachers or counselors if you have questions. As a reminder, TMS students will be dismissed at 10:30 on Wednesday for our 1st Quarter School Improvement Day.

Safety Concern: We’ve been made aware of a fairly significant safety concern regarding the morning drop off time before school. Several students were witnessed at various times this week cutting in between buses in the East parking lot to get into the school. In the interest of student safety, please utilize the main entrance circle drive for morning drop offs. Students may be dropped anywhere along the sidewalk. If a student wishes to enter through the East doors near the big gym, we would prefer that students were dropped off at the bottom of the sidewalk, as opposed to being dropped off in the middle of the parking lot. Students don’t always pay close enough attention to our buses and other vehicles. Bus drivers are also having a hard time seeing students who walk right in front of them and some of them are experiencing difficulty getting back out on US 40 to run their elementary school routes on time. Please use extreme caution if you or your child needs to utilize the East entrance for any reason in the mornings, as this area is supposed to be reserved for our buses.

Exclusion Date: We still have several sixth graders who are not in compliance regarding physicals and immunizations. As a reminder, these were due today, September 15th. If you received an email stating that your child has a missing physical or immunizations, please make sure the nurse’s office has a copy of your sixth grader’s physical and immunization records prior to returning to school. Students should be excluded from school beginning Monday, September 18th if we do not have these items on file. The Illinois Physical Exam Form is included further down in this message for your convenience. Please contact the nurse’s office or email one of our nurses ann.becker@tcusd2.org or christy.edwards@tcusd2.org to share proof of an appointment if you are in non-compliance before sending your 6th grader back to school.

Pictures from the Month of September

Some action shots from the past week are included in this section. Congratulations to our girls softball team for winning the IESA 3A Regional Championship! Softball pictures are included in the album. I was also able to include a photo of everyone’s favorite stoplight this morning! We’ll add more pictures to the September Album each week. When the calendar switches over to October, we’ll start a new album to share in our weekly emails.
