TMS Families,

The week that students (and maybe a few staff members) have been waiting for with great anticipation has finally arrived! We’ll have our annual winter assemblies on Thursday. Our student council has planned some exciting activities, and they’ve asked for students and staff to show their school and holiday spirit on Thursday by dressing in the following colors (no face paint or hair dye):

  • 6th Grade - Green

  • 7th Grade - White

  • 8th Grade - Red

As a reminder all Triad District students will be dismissed an hour earlier than normal on Thursday, December 21st. At TMS, students will be dismissed immediately following the last lunch at 12:55pm. There will be no after school clubs or activities on Thursday, other than previously scheduled practices communicated by coaches.

Please encourage your student to check the lost and found areas this week, as remaining items will be donated at the end of the semester.

When students return to school on Thursday, January 4th, all 8th grade students will be taking the Illinois Youth Survey in their Science classes. If, for any reason, you do not wish for your child to participate in this anonymous survey, please complete the Illinois Youth Survey Parent Opt Out Form at the bottom of this parent notification letter. If an opt-out form is completed by a parent, it should be given to the student’s science teacher by January 4th.

We have a new school resource officer at TMS. Welcome to Deputy Matt Maue! We are excited to have Matt joining our team, and he is off to a great start meeting students and staff.

Safety Reminder: In the interest of safety, please do not drop students off in the large staff parking lot area on the east side of the school or on the south side of the circle drive near Highway 40 where students have to cut across lines of cars or buses to enter the school. We expect for students to be dropped off anywhere along the sidewalk on the west side of the cones and stanchions that separate the east parking lot from the circle drive. Deputy Maue has been trying to remind students and parents of where drop offs should occur. Your patience and cooperation would be greatly appreciated, as we work together to keep all students safe and buses moving in and out of our campus lot.

Thank You TMS: We were once again extremely impressed by the kindness and generosity shown by our middle school students and their families during our annual Help For the Holidays spare change drive. It’s become an annual tradition that our 7th and 8th grade homerooms enjoy seeing which room can raise the most money. This year, Dr. Corzine’s class won the 8th grade donut party by contributing almost $700, and Mr. Wise’s class won the 7th grade donut party by raising nearly $800. Overall, TMS collected nearly $4,500. Our 7th graders donated over $2500, and our 8th graders donated almost $2000. These funds are being donated on behalf of Triad Middle School to the Triad Strong organization. We are so proud of all of our students for understanding the importance of giving and serving, especially during this time of year. The donations collected will certainly make a difference for Triad families in need this holiday season.
