TMS Families,
I hope you were able to stay safe this morning despite the icy conditions outside. Thankfully, the weather forecast for the rest of the week looks significantly better, so hopefully the temperature climbs above freezing overnight so that we can get back to school in person at TMS. We have a busy week coming up. A list of activities and events is included at the bottom of this message for your convenience.
So far this year we have enjoyed our school’s transition to the IESA (Illinois Elementary School Association) for all athletics. This has not only provided us with the opportunity to compete for postseason championships at both the 7th and 8th grade levels, but it has also provided us with an opportunity to recognize more of our outstanding student athletes. We were allowed to submit one TMS Student to represent our school as a Scholar Attitude Award Winner. The IESA recognizes students throughout the State of Illinois based on the following criteria:
1. 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale for both 7th and 8th grade school years
2. Played a minimum of one IESA sponsored activity/sports
3. The student must have demonstrated outstanding citizenship during their junior high school tenure.
"The IESA Scholar Attitude Award honors those students who have maintained a high-academic standard while pursuing participation in their school community through IESA activities. We would like to congratulate the selected students on their focus, passion, and pursuit. We look forward to the leadership they will provide in the future and we are pleased to be a part of their journey."
Congratulations to Kenzie Becker for being selected as Triad Middle School’s Scholar Attitude Award Winner from the pool of four extremely worthy TMS nominees. We are proud of Kenzie and all of our scholar athletes who display outstanding sportsmanship and character. We will look to highlight them in an upcoming TMS Update. #CrusadersCulture #TriadProud
Important Dates for 8th Grade Families: Please see the following document for Important Dates for 8th Graders. 8th grade parents will want to make sure to attend the freshman orientation at THS on the evening of February 6th. That event is specifically geared towards parents, whereas the other dates on the document are specifically for current 8th grade students, who will be enrolled as freshman in the Fall.

Erin’s Law: All Illinois schools are required by law to implement a prevention-oriented child sexual abuse program. Our Erin’s Law lessons and presentations will take place between February 6th-8th. Here is the Erin’s Law letter for you to review. Please follow the instructions if you wish to excuse your child from these lessons by Feb. 5th.
