TMS families,
In their monthly meeting on February 26th, the Triad Board of Education adjusted the current 2023-24 school calendar to reflect a change in the April school improvement day. The half day of attendance will be moved to Monday, April 8, 2024. TMS students will be dismissed at 10:30AM, THS students will be dismissed at 10:45AM, and Elementary students will be dismissed at 11:50AM. Please note this change in your family calendars as previously this school improvement day was scheduled for Wednesday, April 24. The date of April 24th will now be a full day of student attendance. The reasoning for this change is that the upcoming solar eclipse for the St. Louis region will be reaching its totality at approximately 2:00 PM on April 8th, which coincides with the dismissal time at both Triad Middle School and Triad High School. The staff, administration, and Board of Education want all students to be safe on this date, including our student drivers. Utilizing a school improvement day on April 8th will ensure that all students are home for the majority of the eclipse and not distracted traveling home. Other districts in Madison County with similar dismissal times are adjusting their schedules as well to ensure that students are not being dismissed around the time of the near total solar eclipse. All Triad schools will provide solar glasses to each student on April 8th before they go home. If students are not in attendance on this date, students or their guardians may request solar glasses from their elementary grade level teacher or homeroom teacher at TMS/THS on Friday, April 5th. Thank you for your flexibility in making these adjustments to your calendar.
Also, in Tuesday's TMS Update, we failed to recognize our outstanding TMS Wrestlers on a job well done at their IESA Regionals last week. The wrestling team finished in third place as a team at regionals, but they advanced 13 wrestlers to the IESA Sectionals that will take place tomorrow in Jacksonville. Good luck to the following wrestlers who placed in the top three at regionals.
