The week that students (and maybe a few staff members) have been waiting for with great anticipation has finally arrived! We’ll have our annual winter assemblies tomorrow. Our student council has planned some exciting activities, and they’ve asked for students and staff to show their school and holiday spirit on Friday by dressing in the following colors (no face paint or hair dye):

  • 6th Grade - Green

  • 7th Grade - White

  • 8th Grade - Red

As a reminder all Triad District students will be dismissed an hour earlier than normal on Friday, December 20th. At TMS at 12:55pm. There will be no after school clubs or activities on Friday, other than previously scheduled practices communicated by coaches.

Please encourage your student to check the lost and found areas this week, as remaining items will be donated at the end of the semester.

Safety Reminder: In the interest of safety, please do not drop students off in the large staff parking lot area on the east side of the school or on the south side of the circle drive near Highway 40 where students have to cut across lines of cars or buses to enter the school. We expect for students to be dropped off anywhere along the sidewalk on the west side of the cones that separate the east parking lot from the circle drive. It is also extremely helpful to pull all the way forward and for students to exit the car as soon as they are along the sidewalk. Once they exit please leave the line and exit the circle drive. Deputy Maue has been trying to remind students and parents of where drop offs should occur. Your patience and cooperation would be greatly appreciated, as we work together to keep all students safe and buses moving in and out of our campus lot.

Centerstone Youth Guidance Presentations:

  • Centerstone: PYO (Preventing Youth Overdose) Grant has allowed for counselors to come and share “hot” topic areas with our students.

  • We started with 6th grade last week and covered peer relationships. The presenters talked about how to manage conflict, peers vs. friends, benefits of social connection and how to deal with conflict in a healthy way.

2nd Semester Elective Supply List:

  • 7th and 8th grade students will switch electives to start the 2nd semester

  • Please check the Elective Supply List for a list supplies

Sports/Extracurricular Activities:

  • The girls basketball season finished last week. Our seventh grade team finished as IESA 3A runner-up on Thursday, December 12th.  Our eighth grade group played at sectionals on December 11th and lost to Edwardsville Lincoln who will play for the State Championship tonight.  Both teams have had a tremendous season.

  • Congrats to Colton Hanlon who participated in the State Unified Bowling Championship and received a silver medal with his bowling partner Luke Ulrich, who is a former TMS Student.

  • The boys basketball team is in the middle of their season. The seventh grade team is having a really good season while the eighth grade team is competing at a high level.

  • The cheer team opened up their competition season this past weekend. They got 3rd in routine and 1st in game day cheer. Last weekend the girls also qualified for the ICCA State Finals, January 12th.

  • The dance team opened up their competition season this past weekend at Belleville East and received 2nd in Jazz and 3rd place in Open Pom.

  • Wrestling has started and their matches begin this week. The number of athletes out for Wrestling are tremendous.
